PAST EVENTS:

Supporters of Joan’s Legacy: Uniting Against Lung Cancer celebrated fashion and philanthropy in style on February 11, 2009. Philippa Ward and Genevieve Labean hosted a special evening of cocktails and shopping at Tory Burch's newest store. More than 100 people gathered and shopped at the chic boutique located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, New York City. Thank you, Team Tory Burch, for your enthusiasm for and support of our important work!

This September, Lynn Adler and the Soaring Eagles participated in the Twin Forks MS150 Bike Ride two months after Lynn’s best friend, MJ—Mary Jo Lorello— passed away from lung cancer. Lynn vowed to match every dollar that her sponsors donated for the battle against MS with a donation to Joan's Legacy. With generous support, Lynn was able to make twice the impact and donated over $4,000 in honor of MJ.

Palaia Vineyards hosted a weekend-long Neil Young Tribute Festival July 26-27th to support Joan's Legacy: Uniting Against Lung Cancer. Thirty artists volunteered their time and talent, performing on an open stage in Palaia's beautiful vineyard in New York's historic Hudson Valley. Hundreds of attendees enjoyed two afternoons of live music, fabulous wine, beautiful surroundings, and fun family activities. Palaia Vineyards donated 100% of the admissions to our programs to conquer lung cancer.
Tina Jezuit has something to celebrate — life! To mark her 20th anniversary as a survivor of Osteosarcoma, Tina put together Cancerpalooza to mark the occasion and celebrate the lives of all those who are impacted by cancer. In addition to honoring other survivors, Cancerpalooza — hosted on July 13th in Jermyn, Pennsylvania — also honored those who were lost. Sandra Syryla Dovin lost her battle with lung cancer in March 2008. All of the proceeds from the play area named in her honor were donated to Joan’s Legacy.
High School student Elena Madden wanted to help make a difference. As part of the The Harker School National Honor Society project, students from the school in San Jose, CA, flew their own “Kites for a Cure”. With the help of school administrator Jennifer Gargulo, the students raised over $400, enjoyed a beautiful March day flying kites and shared information about lung cancer with students throughout the school.
