What is Joan’s Legacy?

The Joan Scarangello Foundation to Conquer Lung Cancer is committed to fighting lung cancer by funding innovative research and increasing awareness of the world’s leading cancer killer, with a special focus on non-smoking-related lung cancer. It was named after Joan Scarangello McNeive as it was inspired by her story.

In only three years, Joan’s Legacy has awarded more than $1,300,000 in research grants to the finest cancer centers in the United States, built a broadcast journalism awards program in honor of its namesake, and raised awareness of lung cancer throughout the country. The first nonprofit in the U.S. to identify and cultivate lung cancer research with a special focus on non-smoking-related lung cancer, Joan’s Legacy has quickly become recognized as the “venture capital” for lung cancer research in the U.S.
